About the position

The Research Technician II in Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine plays a crucial role in supporting research studies involving animal training, testing, and scanning procedures. This position involves assisting with surgeries, neuronal recording experiments, and providing care for research animals, all while ensuring compliance with safety procedures and maintaining laboratory conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments, and assays, including data collection and preparation of solutions.
  • Assists with large animal studies and PET/MRI scans.
  • Sets up scans, surgeries, and recording experiments.
  • Organizes, edits, backs up, and disseminates video and computer-based data.
  • Maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Prepares and maintains records relating to animals, reporting signs of illness to supervisors or veterinary staff.
  • Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning, including ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • No specific certification is required for this position.
  • Up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
