About the position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for assessing and treating patients with respiratory disorders. This role involves conducting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and administering respiratory therapy while working closely with healthcare teams to enhance patient well-being and manage respiratory conditions. The practitioner also educates patients on respiratory health and disease prevention, ensuring quality care through various therapeutic interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients with respiratory disorders and conduct diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments and monitor patient responses.
  • Operate medical devices such as mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory health and disease prevention.
  • Evaluate the effects of respiratory therapy and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Complete discharge planning and design home exercise programs for patients.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to manage respiratory conditions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Licensed by the NC Board of Respiratory Care as a CRT or RRT.
  • Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care as an RRT.
  • BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
  • ACLS certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of employment.
  • 3 years of experience in acute clinical care or equivalent clinical rotations.
