About the position

The RN PreOp/PACU is a Registered Nurse responsible for providing quality patient care in the perioperative services at Cascade Spine Center. This role involves delivering both direct and indirect patient care, ensuring safety and effectiveness in pre- and post-operative settings, and supporting the organization's mission and values. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, while also acting as a patient advocate and coordinating care across various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers indirect and direct patient care according to established standards, considering patient age and risk factors.
  • Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Follows policies and procedures for pre- and post-operative nursing care according to accepted standards.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care based on individual patient needs and physician's orders.
  • Organizes and prepares medical records, documenting care appropriately and following up on missing data.
  • Maintains current skills in intravenous therapy, medication administration, patient assessment, and airway maintenance.
  • Acts as a patient advocate to meet physical and psychological needs.
  • Performs patient assessments and reassessments upon admission and regularly thereafter.
  • Communicates nursing interventions and patient responses to responsible practitioners as indicated.
  • Integrates and coordinates care across settings and disciplines.
  • Implements physician's orders effectively and safely.
  • Maintains skills on necessary equipment for responsibilities.
  • Documents all records according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assesses information/documents on AdvantX and patient chart, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provides teaching to patients/parents based on their level of understanding.
  • Participates in committee and CQI activities.
  • Informs clinical managers of day-to-day situations.
  • May fill in for Pre-op / PACU / Clinical Manager if they are on leave.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (Associates or Bachelor's Degree).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Registered Nurse experience.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Oregon.
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Experience with medical software programs such as Advantx, Amkai, or Epic.
  • Full range of physical mobility, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
