About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South is responsible for providing holistic and professional care to patients under the supervision of physicians. This role involves planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating patient care, particularly in the field of cardiology. The RN will engage in direct patient care, assist with special tests and procedures, and ensure effective communication among the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating patient care under physician supervision.
  • Initiate, monitor, report, and complete non-pharmacologic, pharmacologic, and PET stress tests.
  • Participate as a member of a holistic health care team to achieve maximum wellness for patients.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments with proper technique and professional knowledge.
  • Monitor results of therapeutic tests and procedures, reporting findings to physicians and instituting appropriate nursing instructions.
  • Document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure optimum patient care.
  • Identify teaching needs of patients and provide appropriate resources and information.
  • Participate in continuing education and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current and unencumbered licensure with the Resident State Board of Registered Nurses.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Successful completion of EKG, stress testing, and general cardiology courses within 12 months of hire.
  • Two years of critical care experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced certification in the field of Cardiology/Cardiovascular nursing.
