About the position

The RN Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of certified nursing assistants and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves direct patient care, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to meet residents' needs. The RN Supervisor also participates in admissions, discharges, and transfers, while promoting a culture of respect and teamwork within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily activities of certified nursing assistants in accordance with regulations and facility policies.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures by nursing personnel.
  • Participate in the admission, discharge, and transfer of residents as required.
  • Observe changes in residents' status and notify physicians and families accordingly.
  • Transcribe physician orders and carry out as written.
  • Prepare and administer medications as per physician orders and observe for adverse effects.
  • Perform wound treatments and document changes as required.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and transportation needs for residents.
  • Provide nursing leadership to assigned personnel.
  • Perform direct care skills such as colostomy changes and IV administration.
  • Conduct rounds to ensure resident needs are met and personnel are performing duties.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to meet residents' needs.
  • Inform appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and file grievances as necessary.
  • Report incidents or unusual occurrences to supervisors and participate in investigations.
  • Participate in end-of-life care as required.
  • Ensure adequate stock of medications and supplies, notifying appropriate personnel of needs.
  • Initiate, review, and update care plans as required.
  • Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
  • Participate in the survey process during inspections.

Requirements

  • A Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or a graduate of an approved RN program.
  • Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in practicing state.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Prior experience in long-term care preferred but not required.
