About the position
The Sales Associate at Dollar General serves as a key point of contact for customers, providing assistance in locating and purchasing merchandise while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. This part-time role involves various responsibilities including operating the cash register, stocking merchandise, and maintaining store cleanliness to maximize profitability and protect company assets.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
- Operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer's purchases, collect payments, and make change.
- Bag merchandise and assist customers with their purchases as necessary.
- Follow company merchandise processes including unpacking, stocking, restocking, and rotating merchandise on shelves.
- Build merchandise displays and set up sidewalk displays.
- Clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop floors, and clean restrooms and receiving areas.
Requirements
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides.
- Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to perform cash register functions and stock merchandise.
Nice-to-haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
