About the position

The School Age Childcare Site Director Sub at South Sound YMCA is responsible for supervising and directing site activities of the School Age Child Care Program in the absence of the Site Director. This role supports the YMCA's mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children.

Responsibilities

  • Temporarily supervise staff/volunteers to provide a safe and healthy environment and a quality program.
  • Implement curriculum and appropriately involve staff in its delivery.
  • Maintain good YMCA relationships with children, parents/guardians, community, and school staff.
  • Ensure all appropriate supplies required to run a quality program are available.
  • Familiarize with licensing regulations and ensure the program meets all requirements, reporting any issues to the Program Director.
  • Submit completed paperwork by required deadlines.
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
  • Follow the guidelines of the policy manual and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Maintain the site in accordance with school district standards, performing custodial duties as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate time and attendance records through the Paycom system.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Completed 30 credit hours of college-level educationally related coursework or equivalent as determined by state licensor.
  • At least two years of experience working with children.
  • Ability to cooperate with school personnel in a positive, professional manner.
  • Maintain a facility in accordance with state licensing regulations and YMCA requirements.
  • Relate well to children and their families.
  • Meet and maintain training standards set by STARs for Washington state, including completion of 30-hour childcare basics training and 10 additional yearly hours.
  • Attend the DCYF child care licensing orientation.
  • Complete background check forms, proof of current TB test, and MMR record prior to the first day of working with children.
  • Have First Aid, CPR, and HIV/AIDS training completed within 30 days of hire.
