About The Position

The Server position at Black Bear Diner involves providing friendly and prompt service to create a positive dining experience for guests. The role focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction through attentive service and effective communication.

Requirements

• Possess verbal and language skills to understand and communicate with guests.
• Must have a basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
• Possess basic math skills and operate a point-of-sale system.
• Ability to handle money accurately.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 5 hours).
• Be able to safely lift and maneuver plates of food and supplies weighing up to 10 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests.
• Make all guests feel comfortable and personally take care of them.
• Inform guests of specials and feature items.
• Answer questions about food, beverages, and restaurant services.
• Take food and beverage orders and enter them in the point-of-sale system.
• Deliver food and beverages to guests in a timely manner.
• Run food orders from the pick-up window promptly.
• Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as assigned.
• Maintain clean service areas.
• Monitor and observe guests' dining experience.
• Ensure guests are satisfied with food and service.
• Respond promptly and courteously to requests.
• Pre-bus tables frequently.
• Prepare bill and present check to guests at the appropriate point in service sequence.
• Clean and reset tables promptly.
• Clean chairs, booths, and surrounding carpet.
• Assist fellow servers as needed.
• Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
• Fill in as needed to ensure smooth operation of the restaurant.
