About the position

The Service Technician for Access Control Systems at Allied Universal® Technology Services is responsible for the service, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of various electronic security systems, including access control equipment and IP-based video systems. This role is crucial in ensuring the operability and compliance of security systems, contributing to the safety and security of clients and communities. The technician will work on-site at commercial client locations, utilizing a company vehicle and tools to perform their duties effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on access control equipment and IP-based video systems.
  • Drive to commercial client sites with a company-issued vehicle to perform service and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot system installations to identify issues and apply effective resolutions.
  • Identify and repair physical security systems to ensure operability and compliance with applicable building codes.
  • Document service-related issues for tracking purposes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools, analog and digital test equipment, and CCTV testing devices.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics, CAD drawings, and related documents for low-voltage applications.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Provide phone and online remote diagnostic support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Management.

Requirements

  • NICET 1 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • 2-3 years experience servicing commercial electronic security systems: access control, video management, intrusion detection, and fire systems/alarms.
  • Ability to be on-call on a rotational basis for emergency service calls.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical and electronic aptitude.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs and working on ladder heights of up to 16'.
  • Valid State Driver's License with a clean driving record and minimum insurance as required by company policy.
  • High School Degree, Vocational School or equivalent.
