About the position

We are seeking an experienced SingleStore Database Administrator (DBA) with strong Python programming skills to manage and optimize our SingleStore database environment. The role focuses on ensuring high performance, data integrity, and security while collaborating with IT teams to provide database support and streamline operations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain SingleStore database systems.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning strategies.
  • Optimize complex SQL queries and maintain high availability of database systems.
  • Develop, test, and implement backup and recovery plans for data protection.
  • Ensure database security by implementing policies, access controls, and procedures.
  • Develop and deploy Python scripts for automating routine database tasks and improving operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to support seamless integration with applications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including schemas, data models, and operational procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tools, trends, and best practices in SingleStore database management and Python automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a DBA with a focus on SingleStore (MemSQL).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python programming for scripting and automation.
  • Proficiency in SQL: Query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Linux Administration: System maintenance and shell scripting.
  • Unix/Bash: Writing and maintaining scripts for database operations.
  • Knowledge of distributed databases and columnar DB systems.
  • Experience with Git for version control and collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS S3 for storage solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with other RDBMS systems like Vertica, MySQL, or Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Understanding of DevOps tools and practices.
  • Experience with PL/SQL and data warehousing solutions.
