About the position
The School Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) position involves supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing students within a school district by facilitating effective communication in the classroom. This role can be performed on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the needs of the school and the interpreter's availability.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate communication between Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and their peers or teachers in the classroom.
- Support students in understanding classroom instruction and activities through sign language interpretation.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to create an inclusive learning environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1+ years of interpreter experience required.
- Sign Language Interpreter Certification is mandatory.
- EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher is required.
- Experience in educational settings is a plus.
