About the position

The Staff Development Nurse at the Greens at Pinehurst is responsible for managing the facility's infection prevention program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing education to staff on infection control practices. This role emphasizes personal advancement and skill development within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and evaluate the facility infection prevention program.
  • Utilize epidemiologic principles to conduct surveillance and investigations.
  • Evaluate and modify the surveillance plan as necessary.
  • Develop, interpret, and assist with implementation of infection prevention and control policies and protocols.
  • Communicate infection prevention and control information and data to various committees and healthcare workers across the facility as assigned.
  • Assess and address learning needs of those served.
  • Create educational goals, objectives, and strategies using learning principles and available educational tools and technology.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and learner outcomes.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Stay current on infection prevention and control regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Utilize performance improvement methodology to enact change.
  • Monitor and analyze process and outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Participate in performance improvement committees, teams, and initiatives as indicated.
  • Educate staff with mandatory in-services.
  • Assess risk of occupational exposures to infectious disease.
  • Assess rates and trends of occupational exposures.
  • Assess immunization and screening programs.
  • Apply work restrictions and recommendations related to communicable diseases or following an exposure.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Registered Nurse Degree from an accredited program or college/university.
  • Associate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field.
  • Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
  • Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred.
