About the position

The Tax Accountant position at Albertsons involves optimizing the sales and use tax process within the Indirect Tax team. The role focuses on multi-state sales and use tax compliance, general ledger account reconciliations, and product taxability analysis. The successful candidate will also participate in tax audits and special projects, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the tax department.

Responsibilities

• Indirect tax GL account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Indirect tax compliance, including data gathering, analysis, and return preparation.
• Product taxability reviews.
• Tax research and interpretation of tax laws.
• Ad-hoc & special projects as assigned by Tax Manager.

Requirements

• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to perform tax technical research.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Good analytical and organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Honest and trustworthy, exhibiting sound business standards.
• Working towards a four-year college degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• Advanced level PC skills with knowledge of Windows & Microsoft software applications.
• Experience with Oracle (or similar General Ledger system) is preferred.
• Sales and use tax audit experience is helpful but not required.

Nice-to-haves

• Multi-state sales and use tax compliance experience preferred but not required.
• Vertex tax software experience helpful but not required.
• SQL experience helpful but not required.
• Alteryx experience helpful but not required.
