About the position

As a Tax Managing Director in our Alternative Investments practice, you will provide tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate sectors. This role involves ensuring compliance with tax regulations while minimizing tax burdens, leading complex engagements, managing client relationships, and supervising a team of tax professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure clients comply with all applicable tax authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
  • Prepare required tax filings and ensure compliance with the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
  • Collect necessary data for tax filings and communicate any missing items to clients.
  • Utilize compliance software to enhance efficiency in the tax preparation process.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects and follow up on open items.
  • Deliver high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
  • Lead complex tax engagements and manage project budgets, billing, and collections.
  • Build and manage client relationships and assist in developing new client opportunities.
  • Document client work and conclusions in the client tax file.
  • Identify, develop, recommend, and implement effective tax strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
  • More than seven years of prior tax experience required.
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry supporting Alternative Investment funds preferred.
  • Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships preferred.
  • CPA, Licensed Attorney, or IRS Enrolled Agent required; CFP or Masters in Tax preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools and Adobe Acrobat preferred.
  • Experience with tax research databases preferred.
  • Proficient in tax compliance process software preferred.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
