About the position

The Technical Director will lead the EHS Compliance Business Group at GHD, focusing on expanding EHS compliance services in the Midwest Region. This role requires a self-motivated professional with strong technical skills, knowledge of EHS regulations, and the ability to build and mentor a high-functioning team. The position involves collaboration with various leaders within the organization, business development, and maintaining client satisfaction through effective project management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Team Leaders, Regional Environment Market Leaders, Service Line Leaders, and Business Group Leaders to grow the EHS compliance business in the Midwest Region.
  • Develop and execute business strategies and initiatives to expand EHS compliance services to new clients.
  • Identify, develop, and execute strategies to capture new business with major clients, including business development and sales initiatives.
  • Build and mentor a team that is engaged and driven to provide high-quality results and solutions to client projects and challenges.
  • Maintain a high external profile through membership and attendance in industry organizations, continually growing the contact base.
  • Maintain a high internal profile through EHS project pursuits, wins, and delivery.
  • Cross-collaborate across GHD's Business Groups and Service Lines to promote seamless client delivery.
  • Lead proposal development and contract negotiation to win targeted pursuits, leveraging GHD's capabilities and value proposition.
  • Manage technical projects while ensuring client satisfaction and that projects are delivered safely, within scope, schedule, and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Health & Safety or relevant field of study.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in EHS compliance.
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering multi-media compliance projects.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. EPA regulations and OSHA standards/regulations affecting the industry.
  • Experience with EHS auditing, various EHS compliance assessments, environmental permitting and compliance, and H&S written program development and implementation.
  • Ability to travel for short durations, including overnight travel.
  • Experience building and leading a high-functioning EHS compliance team.
