About the position

The Transportation Planner is responsible for managing freight and carrier execution within the supply chain, ensuring a balance between service and cost while maintaining strong relationships with carriers and customers. This role leverages data to develop logistics solutions that enhance the efficiency of Post Consumer Brands, supporting the company's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day freight and carrier execution throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure transportation is planned to balance service and cost.
  • Develop logistics solutions using data to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Achieve alignment in the value chain between suppliers, PCB, and customers.
  • Manage freight orders and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Run transportation routing and scheduling plans daily, including customer deliveries and plant transfers.
  • Use the Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage capacity across carriers and lanes.
  • Support assigned facilities as a liaison between sites and freight vendors.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators for freight vendors.
  • Create transportation plans that control costs and meet customer service requirements.
  • Report on key performance metrics related to transportation.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce supply chain costs and improve service.
  • Develop strong relationships with transportation vendors and internal contacts.

Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of logistics processes and planning systems.
  • Experience in cost control and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated good business judgment and understanding of economic principles affecting transportation decisions.
  • Understanding of modes of transportation and shipping lanes.
  • Ability to use technology as a decision support tool.
  • Skill in prioritizing workloads and managing stress.
  • Collaboration, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Focus on Transportation strategies that meet customer requirements.
  • 4-year college degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Economics, or applicable field of study.
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in a supply chain-planning environment.
