About the position

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of drivers and driver assistants, ensuring efficient coordination of services between the kitchen and drivers, and managing dock activities. This role emphasizes maintaining quality production standards, compliance with safety procedures, and effective communication with management and airline personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees (drivers and driver assistants) coordinating services between the kitchen and drivers.
  • Ensure quality production standards are maintained for all accounts.
  • Obtain control sheets and make daily assignments for team drivers to flights.
  • Check dock area for required equipment and ensure trucks leave on schedule.
  • Verify that teams are catering to the correct aircraft and flights.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and Airport Transport Authority badging requirements.
  • Assist teams with late flights and equipment changes.
  • Gather information from airlines on service requirements and updates.
  • Maintain radio contact with Operations Manager, meal planner, and leads during operations.
  • Conduct regular checks of the kitchen to ensure no equipment is left behind after flights.
  • Ensure security and proper transportation of galleys and cleanliness of vehicles.
  • Maintain compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with maintenance staff for preventive maintenance of machinery and fleet.
  • Prepare management reports as required.
  • Supervise drivers and driver assistants, including performance evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Manage daily manpower planning and workflow balancing among employees.
  • Ensure compliance with company Wage & Hour policy and employee training requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant, or catering environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees.
  • Ability to train others and provide constructive feedback.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current or previous labor relations experience.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish/Chinese Mandarin/Vietnamese/Hindi/Polish.
