About the position

The Transportation Supervisor at Albertsons is responsible for overseeing drivers and equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal DOT regulations, and managing dispatch for retail store deliveries. This role emphasizes safety, leadership, and operational efficiency within the transportation department, while also fostering positive associate relations and superior customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise drivers and equipment for transportation operations.
  • Dispatch retail store deliveries and ensure timely execution.
  • Ensure driver compliance with state and federal DOT regulations.
  • Assist with required records, reports, and control systems.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise transportation personnel to achieve specific goals.
  • Train and develop dispatchers and drivers, identifying high potential candidates.
  • Maintain positive associate relations and provide superior service to customers.
  • Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operations.
  • Implement initiatives to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of transportation operations and personnel.

Requirements

  • High school graduate; Bachelor's degree or 5 years supervisory experience in trucking preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive trucking experience or grocery retail experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA & DOT safety regulations, sanitation, and food safety at a management level.
  • Strong technical skills with TMS fleet routing optimization software (Prospero, One Network & CAMS preferred).
  • Experience with fleet on-board computer systems (XATA preferred).
  • Excellent math skills and ability to make quick, cost-effective decisions.
  • Strong resolution skills and ability to take decisive action.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven leadership ability with a minimum of 3+ years managing 30+ reports.
  • Ability to chart, forecast, plan, manage, and measure day-to-day operations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite with high proficiency in Excel.
