About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor at Tom Thumb, part of Albertsons, is responsible for overseeing drivers and equipment, dispatching retail store deliveries, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently without a manager on-site. The supervisor will also be involved in training and developing staff, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing transportation operations.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5 years of supervisory experience in trucking preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive trucking experience in grocery retail preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, FMCSA, and DOT safety regulations.
• Strong technical skills with TMS fleet routing optimization software.
• Experience with warehouse management systems and TMS.
• Excellent math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.
• Proven leadership ability with experience managing 30+ reports.
• Ability to make quick, cost-effective decisions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with fleet on-board computer systems (XATA preferred).
• Enthusiastic and willing to learn new programs and procedures.
• Strong resolution skills and ability to take decisive action.

Responsibilities

• Supervise drivers and equipment for transportation operations.
• Dispatch retail store deliveries efficiently.
• Ensure driver compliance with State, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
• Assist with required records, reports, and control systems.
• Train and develop dispatchers and drivers, identifying high-potential candidates.
• Maintain positive associate relations and provide superior customer service.
• Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operations.
• Implement initiatives to reduce costs and monitor existing ones.
• Ensure accuracy within transportation operations and maintain documentation.
