About the position

The Ultrasound Tech at Swift Creek Free Standing ED PRN is responsible for obtaining quality ultrasound images, managing ultrasound equipment, and providing patient care in a professional manner. This role requires independent judgment in complex situations and adherence to established scanning protocols. The position is part of Johnston-Willis Hospital, which is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain quality ultrasound images of patients.
  • Demonstrate competence in following established scanning protocols and adjust protocols as required.
  • Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information.
  • Utilize independent judgment and decision making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Perform necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS).
  • Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.
  • Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare examination rooms for ultrasound procedures.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.
  • Assist the radiology nurse or the radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types of care to the patient.
  • Review each exam for technical accuracy and complete verification process in PACS.
  • Assist Facility System Administrator and Ultrasound Supervisor with PACS clean up.
  • Complete and maintain educational requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
  • Vocational School Graduate.
