About the position
The Ultrasound Tech at Swift Creek Free Standing ED PRN is responsible for obtaining quality ultrasound images, managing ultrasound equipment, and providing patient care in a professional manner. This role requires independent judgment in complex situations and adherence to established scanning protocols. The position is part of Johnston-Willis Hospital, which is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Obtain quality ultrasound images of patients.
- Demonstrate competence in following established scanning protocols and adjust protocols as required.
- Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information.
- Utilize independent judgment and decision making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound.
- Perform necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS).
- Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.
- Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
- Prepare examination rooms for ultrasound procedures.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.
- Assist the radiology nurse or the radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types of care to the patient.
- Review each exam for technical accuracy and complete verification process in PACS.
- Assist Facility System Administrator and Ultrasound Supervisor with PACS clean up.
- Complete and maintain educational requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
- Vocational School Graduate.
