About the position

The Research Program Assistant at the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina will support nicotine and tobacco treatment research studies. This role involves conducting research activities, managing data, and assisting with administrative tasks under the guidance of a program coordinator and principal investigator. The assistant will play a crucial role in participant recruitment, data management, and regulatory compliance, contributing to the overall success of research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit study participants and ensure subject recruitment and retention are completed per protocol procedures.
  • Collect data through site, home visit, or virtual intakes and follow-ups; structured interviews; or through other means for designated research assignments.
  • Provide routine updates on the status of research activities in team meetings.
  • Record and compile information related to research data.
  • Code and enter data into the database management system according to research specifications.
  • Use a variety of technological devices to input and retrieve data or generate reports.
  • Prepare and maintain regulatory documents and communication with IRB and electronic record keeping.
  • Order and maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and modifying research experiments, procedures, or survey instruments in REDCap or a similar database.
  • Process and summarize data using scientific or statistical techniques.
  • Assist in data interpretation and analyses.
  • Perform additional functions incidental to research activities.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and four years of relevant program experience.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
  • Experience with data management such as REDCap is preferred.

Benefits

  • Full-time employment with a competitive salary range of $32,686 - $60,471 per year.
