About the position

The Warehouse Associate I position at Midwest Veterinary Supply, Inc. is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of goods throughout the distribution center. This role involves various tasks including order pulling, packing and shipping, receiving, inventory control, and maintaining general warehouse housekeeping. The associate will utilize RF scanners for inventory management and will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize an RF scanner to perform directed picks of inventory for customer order fulfillment.
  • Move completed or partially completed orders to their respective areas for processing.
  • Visually inspect inventory and alert supervisors of any issues.
  • Scan and verify items pulled for shipping accuracy.
  • Apply appropriate packaging materials to minimize spoilage or damage during transit.
  • Validate lot/batch numbers, quantities, and other product attributes for each order.
  • Print and apply shipping labels to packages.
  • Move prepared packages to designated staging areas for carriers.
  • Alert supervisors of any problematic inventory or shipment conditions.
  • Perform inventory movement and replenishments using RF scanners.
  • Conduct inventory/bin counts and investigate misplaced items.
  • Consolidate eligible inventory to ensure efficient space utilization.
  • Receive inventory off Purchase Orders or ASNs and validate items against orders.
  • Perform inventory putaways and alert supervisors of potential inaccuracies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by performing housekeeping duties.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 months of similar work experience in a warehouse/distribution environment is preferred.
  • Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, employment policies, and procedural manuals.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate a Windows-based computer preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with RF scanners and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols in a warehouse environment.
