About the position

The Weekend Caregiver at Francis House provides compassionate end-of-life care to residents in a home-like setting. This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities and personal care under supervision, ensuring their comfort and dignity during their final journey. The caregiver will also administer medications, monitor residents' conditions, and maintain accurate healthcare records while supporting the emotional and spiritual needs of both residents and their families.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care for residents under supervision.
• Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meals.
• Administer pre-poured medications and document treatments accurately.
• Monitor residents hourly for changes in condition.
• Maintain accurate healthcare records and update medical staff and family members as needed.
• Provide emotional and spiritual support to residents and families during the dying process.
• Ensure the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each resident.
• Comply with health and safety requirements of federal, state, and local laws.

Requirements

• Current certified NYS Home Health Aide/CNA or higher.
• Previous experience as a home health aide or nursing assistant.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving residents.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in palliative care or end-of-life support.
