About the position

The Wellness Coach I position at Crossroads YMCA is a part-time role focused on supporting members in their wellness journeys. The coach interacts with both new and existing members, helping them achieve their health and well-being goals while creating a welcoming environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coach members in support of their desired behavior change and regularly check on their progress.
• Answer questions from members to support their goals related to healthy living.
• Build effective relationships with members and help them connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Utilize tools and information to increase member knowledge of wellness and available programs.
• Conduct post-enrollment interviews to understand new members' definitions of well-being and develop plans to meet their needs.
• Refrain from writing diets, prescribing supplements, or diagnosing injuries; refer members to a doctor when necessary.
• Stay current with trends in the field and exercise industry.
• Maintain and clean equipment as per schedule or supervisor requests.
• Organize and secure gifts for the annual campaign.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures and respond to emergency situations.
• Attend all staff meetings and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
• Training to complete within 30 days of hire: The Ys Foundations of Strength & Conditioning.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Passion for learning, working with youth/families, and sports.
• Desire and ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.
