About the position

The Spanish Bilingual 4th Grade Teacher at Chicago Public Schools is responsible for providing instruction and specialized support to students, particularly those with limited English proficiency. This role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and implementing effective teaching methodologies to enhance students' learning experiences in accordance with educational standards and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional planning and lesson preparation for assigned students.
• Administer tests and language assessments to evaluate students' language abilities.
• Assess students' progress and set expectations and goals in the bilingual program.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans using appropriate instructional techniques.
• Establish positive learning standards and evaluate students' progress.
• Maintain accurate records of students' achievements and attendance.
• Implement instructional methods based on contemporary learning theories.
• Participate in programs to improve student attendance and promote anti-vandalism initiatives.
• Maintain responsible rules of conduct within the classroom and school grounds.
• Communicate with parents or guardians regarding students' academic progress and conduct.
• Participate in professional development meetings and coordinate class field trips.

Requirements

• Successful completion of all student teaching requirements.
• Completion of coursework required for the appropriate teaching license(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Possession of an Illinois State Board of Education issued educator license with a bilingual endorsement.
