About the position

The Spanish ELAR Teacher for 5th Grade at International Leadership of Texas is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned. The primary goal is to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will enable students to develop competencies and skills necessary to function successfully in society. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and supporting the mission of the school district. The teacher will develop and implement lesson plans that meet the requirements of the district's curriculum program, ensuring that all lessons reflect accommodations for individual student differences. They will plan and utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology that cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Additionally, the teacher will conduct assessments of student learning styles and use the results to inform instructional activities. Collaboration with special education teachers is essential to modify curricula for special education students according to their Individual Education Plans (IEP). In terms of student growth and development, the teacher will conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through both formal and informal testing. They will also assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and serve as a positive role model for students. Classroom management is a critical aspect of this position, requiring the creation of a conducive learning environment and the management of student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Communication is key in this role, as the teacher will establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Professional growth and development are also emphasized, with participation in staff development activities and compliance with state, district, and school regulations being mandatory. The teacher will also be expected to attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned-preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • One-year student teaching or approved internship preferred.

Benefits

  • Starting salary for certified teachers at $69,000 including a $5,000 Bilingual Certification hiring incentive.
  • Starting salary for non-certified teachers at $61,000 including a $2,000 STAAR Tested Grade-Level hiring incentive and $5,000 Late Hire Bonus.
