About the position

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. This position requires a commitment to customer service and quality, as the high-quality plasma collected contributes to life-changing medicines. The role involves working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician, adhering to industry regulations and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility for plasma donation.
  • Manage informed consent and conduct medical history interviews.
  • Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs.
  • Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable results.
  • Support vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
  • Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health as needed.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized nursing program.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Fulfills state requirements for basic IV therapy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience in a plasma collection or manufacturing environment.
