About the position
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. The role involves working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician, adhering to industry regulations and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility for plasma donation.
- Manage informed consent and conduct medical history interviews.
- Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs.
- Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable results.
- Support vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health as needed.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized nursing program.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Fulfills state requirements for basic IV therapy.
