About the position
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. This position requires a commitment to customer service and quality, working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician to provide safe and effective plasma donation services.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, medical history interview, and physical examination.
- Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs.
- Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized educational nursing program.
- Currently licensed or certified as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
