About the position

As a Spanish Language Arts Content Editor at IXL Learning, you will play a crucial role in developing high-quality K-5 Spanish language arts content aimed at supporting both native Spanish-speaking students in U.S. classrooms and those learning Spanish in dual-language programs. This position requires a creative and motivated individual who can collaborate effectively with content writers and curriculum designers to produce engaging and interactive educational materials. Your primary responsibilities will include reviewing and editing content for accuracy, style, and clarity, ensuring that it meets IXL's writing guidelines as well as the standards set by the Real Academia Española. In this freelance role, you will be responsible for providing constructive feedback to content writers, helping them refine their work to ensure it is appropriate for the intended grade level. You will also need to demonstrate a strong understanding of Spanish grammar and usage, as well as the ability to adapt to in-house style guidelines. This position is remote and is structured as a 1099 consulting role for a duration of three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Review Spanish Language Arts content for spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Edit content for style and clarity.
  • Ensure content adheres to IXL's writing guidelines and the Real Academia Española Spanish-language style guide.
  • Review text for grade-level appropriateness.
  • Give feedback to content writers.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in creative writing, Spanish literature or linguistics, or a related field.
  • Professional editing experience.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including a finely tuned sense of Spanish grammar and usage.
  • Strong critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to be efficient and organized while working on multiple projects.
  • Ability to adjust to in-house style guidelines.
  • Familiarity working with the Real Academia Española Spanish-language style guide.
  • Proficiency in English, including the ability to read instructions and feedback in English.
