About the position

The Spanish Math Teacher for 3rd Grade at International Leadership of Texas is a vital role aimed at providing students with engaging and effective learning experiences in mathematics, while also integrating Spanish language instruction. This position is set for the 2024-2025 school year, with an anticipated start date of August 5th, 2024. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role requires a strong understanding of the core academic subject area, as well as the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. In this position, the teacher will create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and supportive of students' physical, social, and emotional development. They will manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and will be expected to conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through both formal and informal testing. The teacher will also collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula as needed for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Additionally, the teacher will be a positive role model for students and will support the mission of the school district by participating in extracurricular activities and maintaining open communication with parents and the community. Professional growth is also a key component of this role, as the teacher will be expected to participate in staff development activities to enhance their job-related skills and comply with all state, district, and school regulations. The teacher will also have supervisory responsibilities, directing the work of assigned instructional aides and volunteers to ensure a productive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned-preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • One-year student teaching or approved internship preferred.

Benefits

  • Starting salary for certified teachers at $69,000, including a $5,000 Bilingual Certification hiring incentive, a $2,000 STAAR Tested Grade-Level hiring incentive, and a $5,000 Late Hire Bonus.
  • Starting salary for non-certified teachers at $61,000.
