About the position
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. This position is essential for maintaining high standards of customer service and quality in plasma collection, ultimately contributing to the production of life-changing medicines. The role involves working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician, adhering to industry regulations and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility through informed consent, medical history interviews, and physical examinations.
- Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs.
- Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Support vaccination programs for employees, including Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health as necessary.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized educational nursing program.
- Currently licensed or certified as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of assignment.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
