The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a highly qualified candidate for an anticipated elementary school Spanish teaching position for the 2024-2025 academic year. This role is designed for a passionate educator who is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching multiple sections of FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary Schools) Spanish to heterogeneous student groups in grades K-5. The position requires a strong understanding of language acquisition and the ability to create engaging, standards-aligned, and student-centered lessons that not only develop students' language skills in Spanish but also build their enthusiasm for hispanophone cultures. In this role, the teacher will assess students' performance accurately and regularly, providing thoughtful, meaningful, and actionable feedback for improvement. Communication of results to students, caregivers, and colleagues must be timely and constructive. Building trusting and supportive relationships with students is essential, as is nurturing their social-emotional learning. The teacher will provide a safe and stimulating environment that encourages student participation and engagement. Additionally, the teacher will maintain open channels of communication with caregivers and other school personnel, modeling the district's values in all interactions. Collaboration with peers in the World Language Department is expected, as is participation in professional learning sessions throughout the year. The position requires New York State Certification in Spanish 7-12 with FLES Extension at the time of application, and the district encourages minority and bilingual candidates to apply.
