MacArthur High School is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Spanish teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The strategic priorities include promoting equity, empowering staff, ensuring excellent schools, and educating the whole child through rigorous and joyful learning experiences. This position is safety-sensitive and requires compliance with the Employee Mandatory Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy. Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless exempt for medical or religious reasons. Proof of vaccination or an approved exemption must be submitted upon hiring. The Spanish teacher will report directly to the Principal and will be responsible for setting clear expectations, developing curricula, implementing assessments, and creating a positive learning environment that fosters academic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Sets and reinforces clear expectations and routines aligned with the school's vision.
  • Develops and implements curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
  • Plans daily lessons and implements strategies to meet the needs of all students, providing extra support or enrichment when necessary.
  • Demonstrates strong content knowledge in Spanish.
  • Designs and implements assessments to measure progress towards academic standards and diagnose areas of misunderstanding.
  • Uses assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  • Accountable for students' academic growth and increasing individual student achievement.
  • Creates a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment.
  • Reflects on teaching practices, seeks to improve performance, and responds to feedback.
  • Participates in collaborative curriculum development and school-wide functions.
  • Communicates regularly with parents and families to invest them in their children's academic success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Must hold an OSSE-issued credential or valid teaching credential from another state, be currently enrolled in a teacher preparation program, have 1 year of full-time lead teaching experience, have passing scores on at least 2 of the 4 required educator credential exams, or have a cumulative undergraduate degree GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Strong instructional skills and classroom management abilities.
  • Enthusiasm for and demonstrated mastery of subject matter.
  • Unrelenting commitment to students and the school's constant learning and development.
  • Ability to self-reflect on teaching practices and be responsive to feedback.
  • Fluency in Arabic.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching Italian.
