About the position

As a Spanish Teacher for Kids at Diáfano, you will create an engaging and inclusive language learning environment for young learners in grades 1-2. This role emphasizes a warm, positive, and organized atmosphere while holding students accountable for their growth. You will work closely with the Founder and other educators to enhance the curriculum and ensure that teaching aligns with the organization's mission and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 3 hours of classes weekly, each lasting an hour.
  • Be available to start immediately and teach Wednesdays to Fridays from 3-4 pm.
  • Conduct a demo during the interview process.
  • Collaborate with the Founder and other teachers to improve curricula continuously.
  • Use assessment data and student work to inform class objectives.
  • Implement positive reinforcement and social learning strategies in teaching.
  • Prioritize each student's academic and social environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in education strongly preferred.
  • Native-like level of proficiency in Spanish.
  • Deep understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Strong belief in the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Enthusiasm, passion, and energy for teaching and community building.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching children in grades 1-2.
  • Undergoing fingerprinting for the DOE.
