About the position

The Spanish Teacher at Oxford Preparatory Academy will be responsible for teaching and instructing middle school students in grades 6 through 8. Under the guidance of the site administrator, the teacher will develop and implement a comprehensive World Language educational program tailored to the diverse abilities of each student. The role requires a commitment to fostering academic, social, and behavioral skills, ensuring that students not only meet but exceed grade level expectations. The teacher will engage students through dynamic teaching methods that promote critical thinking and self-motivation, preparing them for success in a global community. In this position, the teacher will utilize an adopted course of study and various instructional materials to plan and develop lesson plans and teaching outlines. A variety of teaching methodologies will be employed, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, projects, and collaborative activities. The teacher will also be responsible for conducting instructional activities using educational equipment, technology, and other learning aids to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, the teacher will instruct students in citizenship and other basic subjects as mandated by legal requirements and school policies. It is essential to prepare and utilize instructional materials that cater to the intellectual and instructional levels of students from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. The teacher will review and analyze student assessments to design educational programs that meet individual needs, providing both individualized and small group instruction to motivate students effectively. Establishing and maintaining appropriate standards of pupil behavior is crucial, and the teacher will employ various behavior management strategies to create a conducive learning environment. Overall, the Spanish Teacher will play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of middle school students at Oxford Preparatory Academy, ensuring they develop the necessary skills for future academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Teach knowledge and skills in world language instruction, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing to students.
  • Utilize an adopted course of study and program instruction guidelines in planning and developing lesson plans.
  • Pursue a variety of methodologies in teaching, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, projects, and collaborative activities.
  • Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, materials, books, technology, and other learning aids.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and other basic subject matter specified by legal mandates and Board policy.
  • Prepare, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of pupils.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate the history, background, and assessment of pupils to design an educational program that meets individual needs.
  • Provide individualized and small group instructional processes and adapt the curriculum to enhance educational opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate standards of pupil behavior utilizing various behavior management strategies.

Requirements

  • Must possess a single subject foreign language credential in Spanish, a Supplementary Authorization in Spanish, or Introductory Subject Matter Authorization in Spanish.
