About the position

The Spanish Teacher at PUC CALS Early College High School will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students in grades 9-12. This position requires a passionate educator who is committed to promoting academic excellence and cultural awareness through the teaching of the Spanish language. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with California State Standards and effectively prepares students for college and beyond. In addition to teaching Spanish, the educator will be expected to create lesson plans that incorporate various teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles. The teacher will also assess student progress through various forms of evaluation, providing feedback to students and parents to support their academic growth. Collaboration with fellow educators and participation in school-wide initiatives to enhance the educational experience for all students is essential. The Spanish Teacher will also engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and contribute to the overall mission of PUC Schools to uplift and revitalize communities through education. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks. They will be dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning. The Spanish Teacher will also be involved in extracurricular activities and community engagement efforts to further enrich the students' educational experience.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Preliminary or Clear Single Subject or Multiple Subject Credential OR University Internship Credential eligible (Intern eligibility letter required) OR Qualification for a permit if the applicant does not possess a credential.
  • Satisfy Basic Skills Requirement (met through coursework and/or passing scores on standardized tests i.e., CBEST, SAT, ACT, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of the subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks and assessments.
