About the position
Valley Catholic High School is currently seeking a .6 FTE Spanish teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This position will involve teaching two sections of Spanish I and one section of Spanish II. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students. The role requires collaboration with department members and faculty to evaluate, monitor, and update curriculum, assessment, and pacing guides under the guidance of the Department Chair and Dean of Academics. The teacher will also be expected to utilize current learning management technology to enhance the educational experience and engage students effectively. A commitment to working with a diverse student body is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Teach two sections of Spanish I and one section of Spanish II.
- Collaborate with department members to evaluate and update curriculum and assessment materials.
- Utilize current learning management technology in teaching.
- Monitor and assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Engage with a diverse student body and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements
- Minimum BA degree in subject area; MAT preferred.
- High school teaching experience preferred, particularly in upper-level Spanish courses.
- Possession of or ability to obtain an Oregon teaching certification and appropriate endorsements.
- Satisfactory clearance of a background check and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
