About the position

The Spanish Teacher at Grafton Public Schools is responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging classroom environment that fosters student learning and self-advocacy. The teacher will implement lessons that align with the curriculum and meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring that all learners are supported in their educational journey. This role requires the use of instructional technology to enhance learning and the ability to evaluate assessment data to inform teaching practices. The teacher will also engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices and research.

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Plan and implement lessons based on the curriculum that meet the needs and abilities of assigned students.
  • Utilize specific instructional strategies and practices for differentiated instruction.
  • Use instructional technology appropriately and facilitate its use among students.
  • Evaluate assessment data to determine and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Incorporate contemporary professional literature and evidence-based research into teaching practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Implement classroom rules and expectations to maintain order.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written forms.
  • Present information effectively and respond to questions from groups including staff, parents, and the public.
  • Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform duties in accordance with district requirements, state and federal laws, and school policies.
  • Work equitably and inclusively with students from diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Plan, coordinate, conduct, and participate in ongoing professional and staff development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field with a focus on Spanish language instruction.
  • 1 year of classroom experience teaching Spanish at the mid-level.
  • Strong understanding of DESE standards for effective teaching.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technology in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with the community.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with diverse student populations.
  • Familiarity with contemporary professional literature and evidence-based research in education.
  • Additional certifications in teaching or Spanish language.
