About the position

The Spanish Teacher position at Mount Saint Dominic Academy is a part-time role responsible for teaching Spanish I and Spanish III to high school students. The role emphasizes creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that caters to diverse student backgrounds and learning styles. The teacher will prepare lessons, manage the classroom effectively, and communicate with parents and colleagues, contributing to the overall educational experience of the students.

Responsibilities

• Preparing motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum, adolescent development, and student interests and abilities.
• Employing a variety of teaching methods to engage a diverse set of learners with different backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles.
• Encouraging an inclusive classroom that accepts the diverse perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world.
• Analyzing classroom data to develop effective lessons and instructional activities.
• Demonstrating a desire to meaningfully integrate technology into the classroom.
• Assuming other work-related duties as specified (lunch duty, homeroom coverage, attendance at school events, etc.).
• Demonstrating effective classroom management skills.
• Supporting students with identified social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs, as well as students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) or students from diverse backgrounds.
• Communicating effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Attending and participating appropriately in full and departmental/team faculty meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Education or a related field.
• Prior Spanish teaching experience (1 year required).
• Experience teaching high school Spanish (Grades 9-12) preferred.
