About the position

The Spanish Teacher at John A. Holmes High School is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction that facilitates student learning in the Spanish language. This role is crucial in helping students develop both educational and social skills necessary for their growth. The teacher will manage instructional time effectively, ensuring that materials and supplies are ready for each lesson, and that students are engaged and on task from the beginning of each class. In addition to managing instructional time, the teacher will establish and enforce rules and procedures to govern student behavior, ensuring a conducive learning environment. This includes monitoring student participation and movement during various instructional activities, and addressing inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining student dignity. The teacher will also present lessons in a clear and engaging manner, using relevant examples and demonstrations to enhance understanding. The role involves continuous monitoring of student performance, providing timely feedback on both in-class and out-of-class assignments, and adjusting instructional strategies based on student needs. The teacher will interact positively with students, parents, and the community, fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment. Non-instructional duties will also be part of the role, including adherence to school policies and participation in professional development activities. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to solve problems and interpret technical instructions.
  • Ability to maintain order and discipline in the classroom.
