About the position

The Spanish Two-Way Immersion (TWI) Elementary Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality bilingual instruction in both Spanish and English to foster bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural competence among students. This role emphasizes creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic and social-emotional development of all students, particularly in grades K-6.

Responsibilities

• Teach instruction primarily in Spanish for grades K-2 and 50% in Spanish for grades 3-6.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests in accordance with the district-provided curriculum.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate as required by MDE.
• OR Bachelor's Degree and enrollment in a state-approved program leading to teacher certification as required by MDE.
• Bilingual endorsement (YF) is preferred.
