About the position

The Infrastructure Specialist at Harrisburg Area Community College is responsible for installing and maintaining network infrastructure cables, ensuring compliance with standards, monitoring inventory levels, and assisting with network management and systems administration tasks. This role is essential for the smooth delivery of technology across the college, requiring collaboration with team members and effective communication with staff to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair network cabling, including patch cables, cable runs, patch panels, and fiber optic cabling.
• Manage and resolve support tickets, diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, and supporting Active Directory and cloud-based solutions.
• Develop and maintain procedures, processes, and documentation for network cabling installation and management.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships, providing high-quality service and communication to staff.
• Travel to other campuses and off-site locations as needed, responding to after-hours support for infrastructure emergencies.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and certifications related to safe practices and installation of copper and fiber cabling.
• 2 years of related experience or a combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.

• Certifications in related field are desired.
