About the position

The Special Procedure/Neuro Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist at Miami Valley Hospital is responsible for independently performing diagnostic and therapeutic Neuro IR procedures. This role requires the application of proper techniques and the administration of contrast media, while ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. The technologist will coordinate patient flow within the IR department and may also perform procedures in other imaging modalities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Neuro IR procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols.
  • Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the IR procedure.
  • Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed IR policies/procedures and performs daily and weekly quality control as required.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media by injection to the patient according to policy, practicing sterile techniques.
  • Assists Radiologist in interventional radiology procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
  • Coordinates patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs.
  • Ensures that all records, files, and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, and verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
  • Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
  • Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Allied Health, specifically in Radiologic Technology.
  • CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • ARRT RT (R) registry required.
  • ODH licensure required.
  • 1 - 3 years of job-related experience, preferably as a Radiologic Technologist.

Nice-to-haves

  • ACLS preferred.
  • Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) registry preferred.
  • Progressive IR experience.
