About the position

The Special Agent position at the Pennsylvania Office of State Inspector General (OSIG) involves conducting investigations related to fraud in various assistance programs administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS). This role requires a detail-oriented individual to perform field investigations, administrative hearings, and prosecutions of overpayments in programs such as cash assistance, SNAP, and medical assistance. The position offers the opportunity to work on complex investigatory assignments and requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations related to cash assistance, SNAP, medical assistance, and subsidized childcare overpayments.
  • Perform interviews with applicants, recipients, and DHS employees to gather information on eligibility factors.
  • Review case documentation and develop evidence for legal presentation.
  • Prepare and file criminal complaints and necessary legal documents for hearings and trials.
  • Assist the District Attorney with the presentation of cases at preliminary hearings and trials.
  • Conduct record searches and develop leads for investigations.
  • Participate in administrative hearings and disqualification hearings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of investigative experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possess an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
  • Obtain CLEAN/NCIC certification within two months of employment and maintain it.
