About The Position
The Special Education Aide position at Chippewa Valley Schools is designed to support teachers and students in providing an optimal learning experience for special education children. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe and secure environment while ensuring confidentiality is upheld. The aide will work closely with students, assisting them in various academic tasks and engaging them in instructional activities such as reading, writing, math, spelling, and life skills. The position requires a commitment to managing student behavior effectively, implementing behavior management plans, and providing support in monitoring and redirecting student behaviors. The aide will also assist students with personal needs, including hygiene and toileting, and must familiarize themselves with individual student requirements and behavior plans. Additionally, the aide will participate in data collection related to behavior and academics, and engage in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge. The role demands a high level of adaptability and patience, as the aide will be working with children who may have emotional and physical challenges. Effective communication with students, staff, and the community is essential, as is the ability to follow through with outlined behavioral management plans. The physical demands of the job include the ability to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods, run after students when necessary, and assist with the physical needs of students, including lifting and transferring them as required. The aide may also be involved in facilitating students' use of mobility equipment and assisting them during field trips. This position is non-exempt and reports directly to the school principals.
