About the position

The Special Education ECSE Unit Teacher is responsible for providing tailored educational experiences for special education students, utilizing distance, virtual, or face-to-face learning methods. The role involves developing and modifying curricula, preparing instructional materials, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that each student's individual educational needs are met. The teacher will work in a self-contained classroom setting and is expected to implement IEPs effectively while fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans and activities for special education students.
• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to create Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline as necessary, including crisis intervention.
• Communicate regularly with students and parents through various platforms.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings and ensure compliance with IEP recommendations.
• Supervise assigned teacher aides and volunteers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements.
• Knowledge of special needs of students and the ARD Committee process.
• Experience in developing and implementing IEPs and instructional strategies.
