About the position

The Special Education Advisor position in the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) is a leadership role focused on overseeing the quality of early intervention services for children from birth through school age. This position involves collaboration, management, and monitoring of early childhood care and education programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while promoting continuous quality improvement in services provided to young children and their families.

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison while monitoring and providing technical assistance for assigned local Early Intervention (EI) programs.
• Plan, facilitate, and coordinate program duties required at the state level in conjunction with the Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC).
• Identify compliance issues at the regional and state level that impact the provision of services.
• Provide guidance to local EI programs for improvement on federal and state statutes and regulations.
• Develop, review, and revise statewide policies and procedures related to programs and services for eligible young children.

Requirements

• Five years of professional experience in special education, including two years as an administrator of a special education program.
• Two years of experience in the supervision of Early Intervention programs or the provision of Early Intervention services.
