About the position
The Special Education Aide position at Lindale Jr. High is designed to support students with special needs, particularly those who may require assistance with communication through sign language. The aide will work closely with teachers and other staff to ensure that students receive the necessary support to thrive in their educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Support students in their daily activities and help them with communication using sign language.
- Monitor student progress and report any concerns to the teacher.
- Provide a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
- Assist with classroom management and organization.
Requirements
- Experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting.
- Proficiency in sign language is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff.
Nice-to-haves
- Certification in special education or related field.
- Experience with behavior management techniques.
