About the position

The Special Education Assistant 1:1 position at Bunker Hill Middle School is designed to provide individualized support to students with disabilities. The role requires a dedicated individual who can assist in creating a positive learning environment and help students achieve their educational goals. The position is effective immediately and involves working closely with assigned staff and students to ensure their needs are met.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and physical support to students with disabilities as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist in establishing a positive learning environment for students.
• Work collaboratively with other staff members to support student learning.
• Maintain confidentiality of students' information.
• Fulfill specific performance responsibilities related to individual students' needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children.
• Proficiency in mathematics and fluency in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic tech skills on computers, tablets, and laptops.
• Ability to work well with other assigned staff.
• Ability to work successfully with students with various disabilities.
• Physical ability to perform job duties including standing, walking, running, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift or move 40 pounds.
• Willingness to be trained in CPS and Crisis Prevention.
• Evidence of good moral character as determined by reference checks, fingerprinting review, and observation.

Nice-to-haves
