The Special Education Compliance Teacher at Digital Academy of Florida is a state-certified educator responsible for delivering specialized course content in an online environment. This role requires a commitment to providing instruction, support, and guidance tailored to the individual needs of students as defined by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher will actively engage with students and their families to enhance learning outcomes and ensure compliance with all necessary documentation for students with special needs. The position is full-time, requiring the ability to work independently for typically 40+ hours per week, maintaining a professional home office environment during standard working hours, which are generally from 9 AM to 5 PM or 8 AM to 4 PM, as defined by the school. In this role, the Special Education Teacher will ensure that all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team. This includes communicating with parents and related service staff to guarantee that students receive appropriate therapies, developing compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state-specific documentation, and facilitating collaborative special education meetings such as annual IEP meetings. The teacher will utilize provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, including assistive technology and accessible curriculum materials. Additionally, the teacher will collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals, document all interactions with parents and interventions with students, and analyze student data to prescribe necessary remediation and enrichment. The Special Education Teacher is also responsible for providing engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, maintaining a grade book to ensure academic integrity, preparing students for high-stakes standardized tests, and establishing positive rapport with families. Regular communication with students and learning coaches/parents is essential, as is supporting them with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment. The position may require travel up to 25% of the time for professional development, student testing, and other school-related activities.
